Police expect decision on investigation "as soon as possible"

Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stated tonight that he hopes the preliminary investigation into the Spinumviva case will be carried out "as quickly as possible."
"What I can wish for is that this happens as quickly as possible. I've always wanted this from the very beginning, and therefore I am calm and will await this moment," Luís Montenegro told reporters on the sidelines of a visit to the Beneficente Portuguesa do Pará hospital in the Brazilian city of Belém.
The Prime Minister was responding to a question from RTP about how he expected the case to end, following the Attorney General, Amadeu Guerra, expressing confidence that the preliminary investigation into Luís Montenegro could be concluded before Christmas.
"Naturally, my expectation is that this decision will be made naturally, fulfilling all the clarifications that have been requested of me," emphasized Luís Montenegro.
In March, the Attorney General of the Republic, Amadeu Guerra, announced the opening by the Public Prosecutor's Office of a preventive investigation based on three complaints, which is still ongoing, to assess whether there are grounds to proceed with opening a formal inquiry.
